Over 10 years ago, we decided to address these problems suffered by our 3-year-old 114bhp Rover 75 and also to give this heavy vehicle a much needed boost in performance.

Our research resulted in the very successful and highly praised Synergy 2 diesel engine tuning box. The Freelander TD4 shares its engine with the Rover 75 and MG ZT, so these too suffer from the same annoying defects (the TD4 has a VNT turbo, otherwise they are identical).

We designed it to be an easy DIY fit, simply plugging into the two engine sensors in under 20 minutes so there is no need to incur garage fitting charges (no additional tools needed once the engine cover has been removed).

The module is shipped ready to fit and use, but the instructions explain how to adjust the controls for the performance you are looking for and there are on/off switches so you can see just how much difference it makes. There is also a socket for one of the optional dash switches which enable you to choose sport, normal or eco from the driving seat.

  • Scatola montata, maf e passare al 2005 freelander. Sono assolutamente stupito della performance. Rimorchiando la nostra carovana in salita in quinta marcia e potendo accelerare quando necessario è incredibile. SYNERGY 2A FAQS

WHY SHOULD I BUY A SYNERGY 2A RATHER THAN HAVE A REMAP OR ANOTHER MAKE OF TUNNING BOX? 
On engines fitted with a Bosch MAF (mass air flow) meter when it goes out of spec by even a few percent, there is an adverse effect on the performance, especially below 2000rpm, and also on the fuel consumption. The poor low rev performance, which makes pulling onto roundabouts and into traffic a heart-stopping, clutch-slipping procedure is possibly what has made you look into tuning products, but unless you address this MAF issue, no ordinary tuning box or remap will work properly. This will result in a disappointing experience and often ends in a dispute with the seller over the lack of results. Click this link to read more on MAF issues.

Over 11 years ago, we found the solution with our MAF boosters on a Rover 45 and these led us to develop the Synergy 2a - a tuning box combined with a MAF compensator which we tested and refined on our own Rover 75 which has a BMW M47 engine and Bosch MAF. We also realised that we could recalibrate a much lower cost MAF sensor (1/3rd the price of the Bosch one) fitted by Mercedes to their C220cdi range to produce a Bosch alternative. Since then we've sold thousands of our reliable modules and just as many Pierburgh MAF sensors and there is no sign of demand falling.
WHY IS THE PRICE SO LOW?
Simply because there are no middlemen – you are buying directly from the manufacturer guaranteeing the lowest price, as well as best service and support.
RELIABILITY
We are one of the longest established tuning companies in the UK and originally the only one that designed and manufactured their own tuning modules. This means our products are well proven and exceedingly reliable.
CHANGING VEHICLE
When you change your vehicle, get in touch because we can usually reprogram or recable your Synergy 2a or convert it to a 2b for the new one, costing from £10 to £30.
FITTING TO A REMAPPED ENGINE
You can certainly do this but bear in mind the resulting massive torque may affect reliability. Typically a remapped 2-litre diesel will gain around 20bhp at 3500-4000 rpm, but it will also lead to significantly more mid-range torque. You can understand why - a remap opens the injectors for longer, whereas the Synergy increases the fuel pressure, the combination of them both being pure synergy - a better result than either alone.
